Jude 5-10

5 But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. 6 And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day; 7 as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
8 Likewise also these dreamers defile the flesh, reject authority, and speak evil of dignitaries. 9 Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!” 10 But these speak evil of whatever they do not know; and whatever they know naturally, like brute beasts, in these things they corrupt themselves.

1 John 1:1-4

1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life— 2 the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us— 3 that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. 4 And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.

It’s easy for us to pass over the text of Scripture when we read that the apostle John saw, heard, and touched Christ. But if we look into just what it was that John saw, heard, and felt concerning Jesus Christ, we’re left with a reality of Truth. We’re left with an account of a man in Christ Jesus who really spoke, who really healed, who really died on the cross & really rose from that death. We’re left with the reality that through this Jesus, we like John, have communion with God the Father and Christ the Son in prayer and through sacraments. We’re left with the reality that since Christ really did what he said he would do – we have the privilege of a complete joy through Him because of the precious gift of eternal life given to us by Jesus.

OK – now I’ll be giving my first ever Lord’s Day Sermon in Tacoma! This Sunday the 3rd of August I’ll be preaching in the morning and evening services at Tacoma Bible Presbyterian Church!

One sermon will be out of Esther 5 another from James 3. As a bonus, if you come for Sunday School you can sit in on Gordy Hansen’s class – Giving and Receiving Biblical Criticism. If you don’t know Gordy or his wife Mary – you should meet them. They have been and continue to be incredible mentors the Lord has put into my life.

Sunday School starts at 9:45 am
Morning Worship Starts at 10:50 am
Evening Worship starts at 6:00 pm

I’ll be preaching my first ever Lord’s Day sermon this Sunday the 20th at the Columbia Bible Presbyterian Church in Scappoose, OR. My friend Pastor Steve Brinegar is out of town attending the NW Presbytery Youth Camp and he and the Columbia BPC session asked me to fill in while he was away. First of all, I can’t begin to say how honored I am to be given the offer. Second, I’d be lying is I said I wasn’t nervous. Standing in the pulpit representing God and giving His message by preaching the Word is an awesome thing, and an awesome task before me. Faith comes by hearing the Word (Romans 10:17) – to think that the Lord would use me of all people to do such a thing… it’s humbling.

I’ll be preaching from Esther 4 so there’s a chance that some of you may already be familiar with the message. Never the less, I covet your prayers. Pray for me, that I would faithfully deliver the Word of God. That Christ would increase and I would decrease as I stand before his flock (John 3:30).
