Summer Vacation

Summer VacationI’m all through with my seminary training for the 2006-2007 year. I think I did well, but I don’t have any of my final grades back yet to be sure. My papers and speeches were all well received, though. I’d set an early goal to have a 4.0 throughout my seminary training, but we’ll see what happens.

With school finished, this is technically the start of my summer vacation. But unlike those golden days in High School which were spent staying up for 36 hour stretches, living off of Orange Crush & 7-11 ‘chos as well as playing “bent rim” basketball (due to the horrible conditition of Karp’s b-ball hoop– but thanks for letting me use it!), I’ll be working fulltime throughout the summer (just like I did during the school year).

I’m using what’s left of my vacation by taking the family to the beach later this month. They’ve been a tremendous blessing and amazingly supportive. Jenn didn’t even strangle me when I told her that I’d be using up 90% of my vacation time doing concentrated classes at WRS – so I owe her a nice (mini) vacation. And a new van. More on that another time.

After that I think I’ll hit the books again in preparation for next semester. Last year I started to get a little burned out because I read the books back to back to back in rapid succession over the course of the semester. You reach the point where you can no longer sit and read essays on Deuteronomy without your head exploding – so you stop, and then you fall behind, and then its even worse as you play catchup. Starting this early will let me intersperse the occasional baseball book and keep my sanity. At least keep it longer.

I’m looking into having a popular guest blogger come back during the summer as well…
